MBsand coach Patty Dodd gives her volleyball knowledge and passion to the Marshall Islands

As part of the US State Department Sports Diplomacy Program, Patty spent 9 days in Micronesia
teaching everyone from beginners to National Team players and Coaches. Patty’s volunteer teaching
trip was a product of great cooperation between the US Embassy, the Marshall Islands Ministry
of Internal Affairs, US Olympic Committee and MI National Volleyball Federation.
As is Patty’s style, after 10 hour flight through Hawaii to get to the Marshal islands, she was in the
classroom that afternoon teaching 15 National team coaches a two day USA Volleyball Training Course.
To quote Marshal Islands VB Federation President Darcyann Muller, “starting in the classroom and then
moving outside to the beach courts for immediate practical application, Patty’s teaching technique was
perfect for our learning style.”
After a long hot week of clinics and good times, it was clear Patty had left her mark on the coaches,
players and people of the Marshal Islands. US Ambassador Karen Stewart added, “the positive interaction between the kids and Coach Patty was evident, it was wonderful to watch the kids exercising and enjoying themselves. Coach Patty is an amazing model of this.”
